Avalon written by Ola Maie Foushee. This is the book to look for if you are interested in Avalon. Ola Maie Foushee lived in Avalon as a child. This is the best source of information related to Avalon that I have found. It's a very hard to find book. The Mayodan library still has a copy of it that can be viewed but not checked out. The book was published in 1977 and I don't think there was ever a reprint. My wife found this copy at Alibris.com a place that deals in used and hard to find books. What was really surprising is that this copy had been signed by the author. |

From Avalon to Eden written by Piper Aheron. This is a newer book first published in 1997. It contains many old photos and postcards from Rockingham County. Anyone interested in the history of the area would find this book very interesting. |
