The Deeds To Avalon
Six old deeds related to Avalon were graciously given to us a while back. I've been real slow at getting them on here but... I've finally done it! I'm fairly sure these deeds were copied at some point in time from the original deed books. At first I found them difficult to read and understand for a couple of reasons. One, English isn't what it used to be and two, handwriting isn't either. After more than a few hours had passed I believe I have them all figured out and converted to typed text. In case I have made some gross errors, I am also including scanned images of the deeds. The Avalon Mills From John H Price and Wife October 14, 1899... the Avalon Mills purchased two tracts of land totalling 115.35 Acres from John H. Price and Mary H. Price. The first Tract contained 113.33 Acres, the second 2.02 Acres. The purchase price was $2883.75 The Avalon Mills From John H. Price & Wife October 14, 1899... Avalon Mills pays John H. Price & Mary H. Price $200 for permission to maintain a dam and back the waters without liability for any property damage. The Avalon Mills From Piedmont Land & Manufacturing Company October 16, 1899... The Avalon Mills purchases 100+ Acres of land from Piedmont Land & Manufacturing Company for $12,500 The Avalon Mills From B. Frank Mebane & Wife July 11, 1899...
